in other movie related business, it looks like i might go see 13 days after all. apparently the lotr trailer is gonna be attached to it. oh, it’ll be neat to see craig mullin’s matte painting of the white house as well.

speaking of painting i have a huge one i will will slopping on and finishing tonight/tomorrow… the interesting thing is that i was reading through a random thread on sijun’s digital art forum, and found a link to anders zorn, a swedish painter, whose pallette consisted of four colors, black, white, golden ochre and redwarm red, taking advantage of optical illusions for the rest. i really like the watercolor, Impressions de Londres that was pointed out – the great thing is that a lot of his work has a direct relationship w/ color issues i’m working on w/ my current assignment. isn’t it too bad i’m not learning any of this in class?

it’s amazing how much great stuff is in those forums. doing a 30 day search for anything posted by spooge demon or fred flick stone (craig mullins, and ron lemen) turns up massive amounts of useful information. hmm, i think i need to take some time off and finish up my km tools. although first i need to find some time to finish all the crap that i’ve accumulated over the past few months. it’ll all fit if i cut sleep out of the schedule…

Mr. Weisman, the county administrator, said voters who needed help were supposed to receive it. “No one is supposed to be denied,” he said.

Mr. Weisman said he that he had heard that at least one voter who had marked his ballot incorrectly had been refused a second ballot. Under state law, he said, voters who punch their ballot cards incorrectly are supposed to receive a second or third ballot so they can try again.

But that apparently did not happen in every case. Bernard Holtzer, who lives in The Fountains retirement community near West Palm Beach, said that when he unintentionally marked Patrick J. Buchanan’s name on his ballot, he asked for another and was refused.

i got back from boston about two hours ago, and was just going through some of the photos i took (about 150 total). i should be able to salvage some shots in photoshop. unfortunately, even w/ 144mb of flash memory i ran out too quick.

to summarize, i had a lot of fun, caught up w/ some old friends, visited some sites, had some chowda.

oh something rather funny is that bush’s spokesman is saying that palm beach county is a “buchanan stronghold” (um, hello, i don’t think that old jewish democrats are gonna vote for a pro-hitler candidate), but here’s an interesting tidbit from the reuters caption: The confusion over which spot to punch for the Gore/Lieberman ticket has created controversy as there were officially 3,407 votes for Buchanan in Palm Beach County yet there are only 304 registered Reform party voters in that county.

actually, the biggest problem w/ mozilla development is that there’s no reference for mozilla that compares to say, msdn’s slick dhtml reference . i just recently discovered the resources at iplanet though, which is enough to get started doing some real dev work

oh yeah, i’m sure i’ve complained about it before, but my moz dom viewer still doesn’t work.. and mozilla doesn’t seem to handle my preferred method of form posting (posting to self) at all.

Gore Awaits Recount, Moves Toward Challenge. ok, sure it’s been beaten to death elsewhere, but i this buchanan tidbit is pretty interesting:

Buchanan ended up with a 3,407 votes in Palm Beach County, one of his strongest showings in the state, and another 19,000 ballots were tossed out because they had been punched twice.

Appearing on NBC’s “Today” show on Thursday, Buchanan said, ”It seems to me that these 3,000 votes people are talking about — most of those are probably not my vote and that may be enough to give the margin to Mr. Gore.”
