oh interesting, no wonder my traffic spiked on the 13th. someone posted a link on memepool to this comic a friend sent to me. i should probably track down the original source, but it’s been too much of a bother.
with the amount of time i’ve been spending on the bus this past week, i’m really glad that i have my nex ii mp3 player. i’ve been using morpheus to get some music, since i lost almost all of my mp3s and i’m also too lazy to re-encode my cds, but that’s been working well. i then run dbpoweramp w/ file selector to do a simple convert to 96kbps wma’s for my nex. there are some niggling details that annoy me slightly – lack of autoresuming/bookmarking, and not being able to toggle shuffling without stopping and going through a menu, as well as stability problems when it runs low on juice (it doesn’t give a low bat warning, just poops out or locks up), but overall i’m pretty happy with how my portable music set up is right now. the diva player looks interesting though (internal memory + cf1 slot + wav playback/recording)
currently listening to: the crystal method (tweekend promo. good stuff), weezer (green album is rockin. but um, short), black eyed peas, craig david, lanemeyer, rem, ani, julianna theory, the get up kids
speakin of which, i was discussing w/ a friend a few weeks back about how it seemed like the whole up’n coming (i’m just not into it enough to know (or care?) what’s goin on at the ug level) altrock scene was like in this post-emo indie rock funk.
man, the bus sucks. and truesync sucks. and school sucks. and being tired and not having any time to do work, and all that sucks. really really really badly.
this put a smile on my face today though:
okay, that was my 10 minutes of fun surfing for today. i think my web addiction is on hold until i get my todo list straightened out.
hmm, so i’m back from my trip up north. most of it was spent kickin it w pals, eating, and attending a “very mellow event,” heheh. which it sorta was. definitely a better crowd than in la, although it was definitely strange with the amount of sunlight for half the party. this probably also accounted for the fact that the event didn’t seem very populated at all most of the time, and even towards the end when it got packed. hmm, i sort of want to write more, but i started one of my classes at smc (hmm, random people i chatted with: wassir, piran, avi… jessica? – yah, i gotta get working on that cms so i can separate my random babble and notetaking from stuff i actually want people to read, now that there are people who ) do read this. um, ok, that was a horribly awkward way to put it.
one of the highlights of the night was meeting ernie when blackeyedpeas came on, which was pretty cool, because i ended up meeting and talking a bit with a grip of his friends. also very nice were some conversations i had with some cool random nocal ravers which was great because i hadn’t really been meeting too many cool people in la recently. hmm.. random link. anyway, i’m sure that if i’m not too lazy i’ll do some editing tomorrow and get this to make more sense..
a friend sent me this one and it’s actually sorta funny, so up it goes: who is jack schitt?
sorta funny that while intel is getting the snot beat out of it, that ibm of all companies is taking names, first w/ the game cube and now w/ the ps3.
“The result will be consumer devices that are more powerful than IBM’s Deep Blue super-computer, operate at low power and access the broadband internet at ultra-high speeds,” the statement added.

Production of the new chip is expected to start in 2004.
You just wait, mister “I have a low UID so I think I’m oblivious to corporate death camps”.
Let’s see how much you’re laughing when you’re vaporized a giant shiny death ray made from thousands of AOL/TW CDs. You think it’ll never happen, but it’s already begun. I spend 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, trapped in an eight foot by eight foot cell, with a 17 inch radioactive tube pointed at my head. And to top it all off, we’re all out of coffee. WE’RE ALL OUT OF COFFEE!!!
some days, /. is too good for my own good. must fight urge to waste time. by blogging of course.
very interesting performance benchmarks on ms sql schtuff and ado:
So the message is clear. If you are going to use ADO, then if the database is Jet then use the Open and Addnew methods to insert records. If the database is SQL Server, use INSERT INTO statements.
sometimes i wish i had 4 monitors instead of 2. i wonder if that would make me more efficient or less efficient.
