well, i stopped by the sxsw interactive wrapup party, my only sxsw party that i ended up going to actually (frog party had a line a mile long, so we said screw it to that). it was at the twist, supposedly a really nice club. it was pretty lame in there, though. no dj, no room to dance, and the food was being cleaned up as me and my friends got in. blech.

i introduced myself to jason, but honestly, that and listening in the weblog panel was really weird because i don’t really know any of the weblog people, and i’m not very good or motivated and making introductions or anything like of that. the conference was semi-interesting, although today’s panels weren’t very informative. i’ll need some time to cogitate on everything. still have some work to do, so i’ll probly be getting to some of that soon.

i should mention i was totally disappointed w/ the web development for tomorrow’s browsers panel, almost as disappointed as i was w/ taylor’s online narrative panel. thoughts and notes should be up soon on this site.

sxsw today was pretty interesting. 2 out of 3 on panels again. i’ll probably have more motivation to put up my thoughts sometime later. i met cam finally today, and that was cool, however in general, i must say that unfortunately i haven’t really met and talked to anyone, webloggers or otherwise. been having fun though, and have tons of notes.

mission impossible answers the age old question: what happens to old movie websites? they litter the internet landscape until the sequel, of course.

the new trailer is up at the apple quicktime trailer showcase. plenty of wooisms, should be fun to watch. the dialogue seems very hokey though, not at all in the same vein as the semi-seriousness of the original movie (which i liked).

<brainfart>the funny thing is that all the right moves (1983) was playing today on the fox movie channel. pretty crappy movie, caught a few minutes of it (and the silly ending), but interesting seeing the contrast between cruise then and now. according to the imdb tom cruise is only an inch taller than me, at 5’7″. oh, back to all the movie… lea thompson (bttf fame) was also in it, and she had a nude scene. she used to be really hot. hell, she’s like 40 now and she’s still looking pretty good.</brainfart>

/. mentions a techweb article that “describes a Visual Perception Processor (costing $6) that can automatically detect objects and track their movement in real time, according to Buereau d’Etudes Vision (BEV). They claim that a full-blown vision processing system/application could be built for less than $50 that rivals current state-of-the-art $10,000 systems.”
