new album is bringing out the u2 fanatic in me. friday vh1 will be airing the the beautiful day video @ 2pm, and then an hour long video retrospective. it’s unfortunate that the u2 site still sucks. in fact, using it more’s it’s getting worse and worse (horrible usability problems – the iframes it loads up are modal, but there aren’t any visual cues that says this! icky.

i missed hearing bd on the radio this weekend (occupied), but i do have some (poor quality) mp3s now.

server back up. apparently, the power went out (while i was working on it) sunday. which of course, meant quite a bit of lost data. suffice to say, i got fscked.

my pal gabe, a creative writing major, has started a blog.

democracy and stupidity – this is a very interesting, if slightly loose, rambling and sometimes fallacious. worth the read for the thoughts it should spark though.

also from mefi, this was in a popular mechanics/science mag a two years ago – it’s about the oicw gun (with laser rangefinded grenades) etc. the funny thing is that they are the same photos as well.

sometimes, i get annoyed enough at ignorant posts to go through the trouble of joining and refuting them, but the feeling quickly passes. /me goes back to work .

gnotella is a much better gnutella client. not that it’s hard to beat the original really…

i’d try toadnode but gnotella works right now and i’m lazy.

so after starting and stopping it for the past year or so, i finally got serious and read through the forever war (restored edition). definitely worth reading.

neat, dave raggett has written a html tidy that cleans up html code (to xhtml, presumably).

i haven’t seen themes.org’s new design until today. pretty spiffy. i also really like the gtk section’s logo.

LaDuke says it way better: Because people make decisions based on fear, Al Gore takes votes away from us. You shouldn’t run a country on fear. Look around the world. The U.S. is lagging behind in its democracy. Almost every other so-called developed country has a multi-party system. Most other countries that have had monarchies have struggled to enfranchise their people. People in this country died for the right to vote, and you should honor that.
