MAGCOM – the perfect cell phone? it appears to only be available in norway right now, but it is tri-band gsm. of course, with the wireless situation in the us, who knows.

the state of wireless communications here has been a staple kvetch for me recently. i find myself often complaining to anyone and everyone about the cell phone carriers, with their ridiculous calling/billing plans and horrible customer service, the spotty and incompatible coverage, and the sheer ridiculousness of how they’re lagging both w/ wireless net access, and in providing useful communications devices. (seriously, who wants to carry a pager, a text messenger, a phone, and a pda when they could easily be condensed into one unit, whether it’s a flip-phone form-factor like the magcom, or a clam-shell device like the accompli or a pda form-factor?) and all the while, we’re being force-fed the same mediocrity by everyone. so much for choice in the free market.

wow: Palm’s Chief Executive Carl Yankowski gave a speech to the graduating class at Boston College this weekend. And that wasn’t all he gave. The entire graduating class received free Palm VIIx’s.

from ars technica:

Oh, and just so you know, I purposely titled this post “email and sex” instead of “email and gender.” Why? Because, as some grammar nazi whose name escapes me once accurately said, “Nouns and pronouns have gender. People, bless their little hearts, have sex.”

if anyone’s been reading this site, you’ve probably noticed that i’ve been updating a lot less, for a variety of reasons. it began with my senior show, and then end of school stuff, and graduation, and moving, getting some sleep after that was all done, and now reinstalling my system, and other sundry personal issues. added to that, i’ve been cutting down on my web surfing time in an effort to simplify my life and make time for other stuff, and then most recently i’ve been a little depressed. hence my little bit of hebrew down there i guess.

so, some catchup while i’m grooving to deep beats @ flaresound. i saw pearl harbor today and caught up a bit w/ an friend and hung out w/ my brother. i enjoyed it, despite it’s crappiness, or perhaps, partly because of it. i wonder if on some level it’s aware of the meta-commentary it makes on hollywood and our society at all. haha, not really, it’s fluff, and long un-subtle fluff, at that, but i enjoyed it nonetheless. it didn’t even seem like it took a 3-hour chunk of my life away, but it did. um, unfortunately, i missed the first 5 minutes, which didn’t disappoint me so much as learning that i missed the lord of the rings trailer. ahh well, i have a lot of movies i want to catch this summer. i’m sure i’ll be seeing it around in hq form.

the reason my site was down for a while was because apparently ultradns seems to have lost my paperwork of the contract i signed and faxed them along w/ my credit card an payment … oh… about i dunno, 5 or 6 months ago? luckily, they shut down my dns service without emailing or contacting me at all, and of course, i didn’t even realize it for a while because of course my domains are in my name cache. grr..

last night a friend stopped by and we ended up having some fun with glowsticks and my 950.
