It’s hard to find the time to do some writing (or anything else productive) when you barely have time to catch on your email. Luckily, I have a backlog of stuff. John Carmack is a nerd’s nerd. There’s a nice Red Herring article on him. He posts some corrections. Also interesting: xpsource, porting ogl code, java, and a Register article on BG’s code skillz.

Those using Trillian may want to check out the forums. If you’re getting FLAP errors, this might help. Oh, here’s one for fixing the Yahoo! Messenger hiccups.

I was wondering if anyone else had noticed that TOC had died as well… AOL is just shooting themselves in the foot. Repeatedly.

Like rc3, Misnomer has lots of political links as of late, but a good smattering of other stuff, like a good interview w/ Rusty (k5) and a link to Ftrain (hoo-ray, looks like Paul’s writing pretty regularly again). He’s been doing some development work on Ftrain like the Reader Services and whatnot as well.

These things should inspire me to get off my ass, but lately, by the time I get home from work, get some more work done, and finish paying bills and doing some reading/writing I’m completely bushed.

2nd to last one

Mozilla 0.9.8 is out. Lotsa new goodies (I picked up a b2002020206 over the weekend which was pretty much close to the final). Seems to run better than 0.9.7. Just posted on mozillazine and /. Now hopefully they fixed a little caching bug in the weekend build I’m using (reloads don’t seem to refresh even when images have changed). Maybe this will deal with the MyRealBox IMAP issues as well? Well, going to go test it out. Only one more milestone until 1.0…

Unfortunately, DHTML performance has regressed, but hey, like I said. I’m not going to play around with it (or likely have the time) until at least 1.0 anyway.

The Digital Millenium Copyright Act in Plain English by Damian Yerrick – this is one of the more concise and simple explanations I’ve read on (one aspect of) the DMCA. This little essay doesn’t go too much further into the free speech implications (restricting code) and the issues of safe harbors and other means of control and trafficking of digital information. It does have some links to some other resources though.
