The DigiBarn Computer Museum is an amazingly cool site. Among the vast amount of interesting stuff is a Newly Inspired Bushy Tree within Bruce Damer’s Personal Histories of the Desktop User Interface that traces GUI lineage up to the year 2000.
Tiring of a too slow TiBook, I decided to take one of them and throw Debian PPC on it. I used the Debian-iMac stuffit file to start the network install.
- Installing Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 for PowerPC
- Ben’s linux/ppc page
- Installing Debian 3.0 onto an Apple iBook
- Installing Debian 3.0 on an iBook2
- Debian on a TiBook
- Debian GNU/Linux on a TiBook III
- Extend the battery life of your (iBook) laptop
Since I had already gone through the mac-fdisk and yaboot stuff w/ Gentoo PPC, this was pretty easy. penguinppc.org is a great resource, as is TuxPPC.
Digital Focus: 14n & 1Ds first impressions
Fred Miranda has put his Canon EOS 1Ds Review online. I’m sure I have a spare $8,000 lying around. (Of course, with the Kodak DCS 14n coming out soon…) – I should start doing some freelance work. Then I could justify spending this kind of money…
Eventually getting back around to doing some hiptop programming. PHP Shell looks interesting.

Steven Johnson put up a blog last week.
GeForce FX related: ATI’s Radeon 9700 versus NVIDIA’s NV30: Understanding the next generation of graphics chips, HLSL’s, Cg and RenderMonkey, Vertex and Pixel Shader Programming, UNC COMP 238, Advanced Image Generation
Both the NV30 and R300 can apply pixel shader effects to video streams. Sure I’ll probably get a GeForce FX to play Doom 3 on, but it might be fun to do some pixel shader mucking.
Hmm, first time in a while I decide to post some stuff and blogger eats my post. Time to just switch I suppose.
