More via Lisa Rein: Not Oil, But Dollars vs. Euros

It’ll be interesting to see if these meme pops up more. This has been a looming issue for quite a while (see IHT Special Report in 1998:

Will Dollar Be Dethroned? Euro May Herald End of an Era, Why a Successful Euro Will Benefit US Interests, also Who’s Afraid of The Euro?). While some of these make light of the situation, who knows, I’ve been reading about the dollar crash since my friend turned into a gold nut. One only has to look at the markets to see that there is serious instability going on. (Want to do some hard math? Take a look at this Federal Reserve phone conversation)

If this whole Iraq thing is a play to stave off impending economic collapse, then it might make more sense why multiple (American, British, Australian) administrations are committing suicide over this thing. The oil/reconstruction angles would just be side plays, silver lining on an otherwise bad hand. Then again, it might just be gross incompetence.
