my first test of lame 3.86b will be the gattaca soundtrack. i’ve decided to tweak my settings a bit:

-h --vbr-old -V 1 -b 128 -m j --add-id3v2

i’ve upped the minimum a bit, sticking to the old vbr code which i’ve been using, but also switching from regular to joint stereo and adding id3v2 tags. less work to do in helium and mp3ext that way. (eac is the last part of my rip/encode setup, in case anyone’s interested)

i had no idea fraunhofer expected to get that much off of licensing. for electronic music distribution, they expect 1.0% of revenue, a minimum of $0.01 / dl, with an annual minimum of $15,000. when they decide to start enforcing that and forcing people on sdmi, we’ll be glad there’s ogg vorbis. fun @ /.

after a weekend of unproductive vignette programming for work, i decided to do something useful tonight, and got started on a simple art project organizer. it’s 1/3 of the way there (needs an index, and admin tools), although i might redo the data model to handle versioning / capture date info. right now the whole thing is just 7 tables, but it’ll probably be a few more by time i finish.
