This little tidbit might be of interest: ArsDigita Shut Down.
More talk at OpenACS and at Greenspun.com and FuckedCompany (yum, catty).
Not surprising following (and far preceding, one might say) the whole Philip G Bruhaha and the massive changes surrounding and leading up to that.
Hmmm, it might be a good idea to grab a local copy of the asj while one can, although Red Hat has apparently purchased all aD’s assets (/.’d of course). I wonder if they’ll switch the Java ACS back onto the GPL instead of the ArsDigita Public License. (ACS-Tcl development has been going on at Ybos since aD had abandoned it – YES looks interesting).
For $220 aduni will send you a copy of the 80GB of lectures, problemsets and all their other stuff (it’s under the Open Content License).
First Genetic Evidence Uncovered Of How Major Changes In Body Shapes Occurred During Early Animal Evolution – pretty exciting stuff. Hmm, unless you’re a creationist I suppose.
Trillian users trying to get the v0.724 (which fixes the latest AIM connection errors) while their servers are swamped can get it here (local mirror): trillian-v0.724.exe
It’s hard to find the time to do some writing (or anything else productive) when you barely have time to catch on your email. Luckily, I have a backlog of stuff. John Carmack is a nerd’s nerd. There’s a nice Red Herring article on him. He posts some corrections. Also interesting: xpsource, porting ogl code, java, and a Register article on BG’s code skillz.
Those using Trillian may want to check out the forums. If you’re getting FLAP errors, this might help. Oh, here’s one for fixing the Yahoo! Messenger hiccups.
I was wondering if anyone else had noticed that TOC had died as well… AOL is just shooting themselves in the foot. Repeatedly.
Ok, this is a good one: The Insanity Test.
New to me: Ironic Times
Like rc3, Misnomer has lots of political links as of late, but a good smattering of other stuff, like a good interview w/ Rusty (k5) and a link to Ftrain (hoo-ray, looks like Paul’s writing pretty regularly again). He’s been doing some development work on Ftrain like the Reader Services and whatnot as well.
These things should inspire me to get off my ass, but lately, by the time I get home from work, get some more work done, and finish paying bills and doing some reading/writing I’m completely bushed.
How disturbing.
