This workshop introduces Adobe Photoshop and how to prepare graphics for web publishing. Participants will learn the basic Photoshop interface and how to storyboard in Photoshop with a hands-on exercise. They will then prepare these image or graphics files for the web. The goal will be to construct a complete web page, or pages, and upload them to the USC server, so some final work in Dreamweaver will conclude this workshop.
Prerequisites: Basic Web Publishing/HTML and Dreamweaver Part I, or equivalent experience.
This workshop is intended as a jumping off point for those involved in planning or developing more complex and advanced web projects (medium to large scale or database/publishing driven sites, web applications, or web services). Participants will first be given an overview of the issues involved with these types of web projects as well as USC specific concerns, such as Section 508 compliance, and the University technical infrastructure.
In-depth coverage of topics will depend upon the participants, but may include tutorials and discussion of: XHTML/CSS/DOM web standards and related front end development, Information Architecture, Interaction Design, Usability issues, Technical and systems architecture analysis (platform, environment, languages), XML, XLST, SOAP/XML-RPC.
